Vocal coaching

Dare I say that vocalizing is more vulnerable than sex? We use our voice all the time to communicate, but when did we last play with our voice? When did we last sing with our whole heart? When did we last let ourselves be heard in our gloriously fantastic expression?

I started singing at age 3, taking lessons at age 9, and I am a well trained and accomplished opera singer.

I remember going to my vocal coach in NYC and saying, "I want to be able to make an ugly sound." Her response was, "In opera, we don't make ugly sounds." I had pushed myself to the vocal limit. Opera is like an olympic sport.

Shortly after that, my voice broke due to health and emotional issues. I spent a few years recovering my voice through somatic work and play.

Now I have a technique that combines classical training with somatic release and vocal and expressive play.

All aspects are important for healthy, comfortable, and expressive singing.

A little about me!

I’m a classically trained singer. I began singing in performing groups at the age of three. My first voice lesson was at 9. I followed a trajectory that led me to singing opera in New York City. I had no “known” vocal issues at this point, but the subconscious work I’ve done revealed blocks that were wanting to be addressed when I was very young. All that stored tension in my body created vocal dysphonia. I needed different approaches, so I move to Bali where I dove into different energetic and somatic practices to release tension and reintegrate my voice. What was the ultimate freer of my voice was finding my way of playing again! I started writing my own music and now I record and proceed my own vocal creations, compose, collaborate, and create whatever my heart desires. I love being in connection with my body and nature is my temple… right after my own body, or rather with! Being naked in nature is probably my absolute favorite thing for feeling fully myself and I feel fully alive when I’m singing my music for others.

My session with Kendra was absolutely extraordinary.

Even though I had an idea of what I wished to work on in the session, Kendra felt into something even more powerful for me and called me forward to try it. And honestly? It was so challenging. More challenging than I expected. Not because it was technically challenging, but because it required me to go to a place within that was so raw and vulnerable and tender - that needed to be felt and called me to step into some of the most courageous parts of myself that I’d been avoiding.

I was blown away by how tuned in Kendra was with my energy and how effortlessly she called in a new way of using my voice and a potent mantra to support me in alchemizing this new way of being into my daily practice. Absolutely gorgeous session - so grateful for this gorgeous woman and the light she brings to the world with her gifts.

Testimonials...

In just one session I could see how gifted, knowledgeable, and connected Kendra is. Sometimes it is difficult for me to get open and expressive, but Kendra made me feel safe. She guided me through a series of vocal exercises that were fun, and playful, and truly connected me to my voice. In certain moments, this allowed me to laugh and stop taking myself so seriously. Kendra’s knowledge of voice and vocal physicality is profound and gave me so much awareness of how my body works to create sound. She helped me tune into my body and movement to better release sound through my voice. Something in that release not only made me feel connected but also made me feel a sense of freedom. I created sounds that I didn’t realise I was capable of making. At times, I even felt connected to my inner child, who has always loved to sing and express. Kendra’s exercises gave me structure while also opening space for creativity. I can’t say enough about my experience with Kendra. It’s almost difficult to express because it touches such depth of my spirit that it's hard to put into words. Within my session, I felt vulnerable enough to express deep emotion that I didn’t realise was there. It felt magical. Not only is Kendra’s knowledge deeply embedded in technique and foundation, but her insight, intuition, guidance, and ability to see you in the moment allow you to go further into a place of vulnerability and connect to your innermost voice. Kendra not only helps you find your voice but also helps you to be in full expression of it. Working with Kendra is invaluable to professional and nonprofessional singers alike. I’d go so far as to say, it is invaluable to everyone. It has opened up my whole universe.

I’m not a singer or a professional in any way. However, my job does require me to be able to give presentations, so it is crucial that my voice is working and that it doesn’t break during the presentations or sound too nervous. For a long time, I’ve had a strained relationship with my voice, always feeling tense and hoarse and like I have a lump in my throat that won’t go away. I was laughed at in school for singing and being shushed so many times and it made me very self-conscious of my voice, my tone of voice and the volume of it. Kendra took it really slow with me, starting with some nice practical exercises to ground me. She took me on this journey where she used a mix of tools to slowly unlock the potential of my voice and made it sound so beautiful that I could actually feel it. Her trust in me made me try and sing repeatedly in front of her, which is normally something I wouldn’t do unless I could sing along to a song on the radio – alone, all by myself with no one to hear. We ended up working on healing my inner child and ended off with such a fun creative task that I still giggle every time I think of a coffee pot. Throughout the entirety of the session, Kendra made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. No words can describe the feeling of working with her. I initially thought that this was “just another singing class”, but this is so much more than that. Not only was she helping me practically to unlock the capacity of my voice, but also the mental blocks that were holding me back, making me play small. While non-professional singers like me can benefit from this, I am certain that professional singers can reach a whole other level of unlocking their voices too. I went into the session, not really knowing what was going to happen and I left with the most joyful and peaceful feeling. I am truly grateful for this experience.

As the session progressed I became more relaxed and more creative and less stilted in the use of my voice. Kendra noted that I did not say Um or Err (my big issue!) once as I got into the exercises and into my stride with the physicality Kendra was leading me through. I was surprised how fast I could transition to that mode of speaking. I was also able to tap into an inner poet that I had not recognised - and the playfulness Kendra encouraged really helped - poetic imagery was how Kendra described it! I had no idea of the potentiality that I was able to unlock with Kendra's guidance, valuable for those with a traditional singing voice - I just had not thought before how to embody it for my speaking! And I did. Do this training and sessions with Kendra for yourself if you are a speaker or a singer! For those who may have thought of how Kendra could help with your speaking voice, I really recommend her to you.

Nate O'Bash, performing artist

I wasn’t sure what to expect from my vocal intimacy coaching session, but I am so glad I took the leap. From the moment I connected with Kendra, I felt a sense of ease and openness. Kendra’s approach was both gentle and empowering, guiding me through the process with care and attention. During the session, she helped me realize something I hadn’t even considered before: my voice is deeply connected to the way I hold back in life, particularly when it comes to feeling free and fully expressing myself.

Kendra's insights were transformative. As we explored how my voice interacts with my body, I began to understand how my physical tension and hesitation were influencing the way I speak and communicate. The more we dove into the connection between my voice and body, the more I could feel blocks lifting and space opening up. She helped me identify the subtle ways I was holding myself back, and with her guidance, I was able to start releasing that tension.

I was amazed at how much I could learn in just one session, and how quickly I could start applying these insights to feel more grounded, confident, and free in both my voice and my presence. Kendra gave me practical tools to continue strengthening this connection in my daily life, and I left the session feeling lighter, more alive, and empowered to express myself more fully.

If you’ve ever felt like something was holding you back from being truly expressive or free, I highly recommend this work with Kendra. It’s been a powerful step in my journey, and I’m already noticing the difference in how I speak, feel, and show up in the world.
